IHS Witch Doctors

My husband hasn't been to the dentist in over twenty years. Why? because he is afraid of them. He claims they are witch doctors who only lean over you and shake their bones at you and speak some sort of gibberish. I used to laugh at that joke because I knew he was always afraid of dentists anyway, but then again, aren't we all? Now I know different. There is a certain kind of dentist out there and they are working for the IHS or Indian Health Services. If you speak native, then you know what and who I am talking about. The Indian Health Service. It seems that when certain proffesionals finish their education, they can work off their debt by working for impoverished tribal entities. So many are sent our(native people) way, and some and I just say "some" aren't exactly the brightest bulbs in the box if you know what I mean. Well some are lacking in common sense, judgement, and skills that are needed when working on a patient. So back to my story.... Today I went to the local doctor/dentist and viola! I had to have an extraction. Naturally something went wrong. Half of the tooth came out, and the other half needed my dentist to sit in my lap and use a great many tools, (bone necklace) and finally after much effort the awful tooth was extracted! This same Dentist one time nicked my sinus cavity and stripped the screw he had drilled into my jaw bone, while cracking my jaw, and literally ran to the pharmacy to fetch me some pain relief! I know, I know, you ask why? why did you ever go back to him?! because dear reader I am a member of the tribe that this poor inept soul was sent to. Making me a victim of poverty and mercy of our tribal governments poor decisions. I must add that I am also a college educated woman and owner of her own business, but unfortunately not succesful enough to have insurance. Do you think this is a good reason for me to be the witch doctors victim? Please tell me some of your dental horror stories, I want to know if my little neck of the woods is the only place with these witch doctors.
